Sex, Money, Kiss: What Gene Simmons Can Teach You About Time

OK, OK… so there’s no sex here today. For those of you who came here for that, well, if you’re an entrepreneur, hopefully you’ll stick around anyway. It’ll be worth it. ;-) This video addresses a deadly poison that’s been spread by best-selling hucksters and marketing molesters alike. That includes one of the most damaging fantasies to ever be put into the mind of entrepreneurs eager to accumulate a 7-figure net worth — the 4-Hour Workweek.

In part two of this video series I’ll enlist the help of Gene Simmons to debunk a common, but VERY dangerous misconception of time. (Dangerous at least if your want to create six and seven figure income.)

You’ll learn a concept that will freak your mind…actually, it’s how to create 1,664 hours out of thin air. Hours that your competitors miss and you can gain.

But it’s a mindset only held by 1-Percenters and practiced by effective entrepreneurs not just like Gene Simmons, but others like Donald Trump, Richard Branson, Martha Stewart and any other mega-successful business owner you can name.

1,664-hours and turning 1-hour into three, four or five!

In this video I keep things light, but don’t be misled into thinking this is a joke. This is a drop-dead serious concept, that if you grasp, will separate you from the 99-Percenters and give you the keys to unlocking the business kingdom you’ve dreamed of.

But if you’re thinking you can just “vision” your ideal business and “imagine” your way into multi-millionaire position, you probably won’t like this video. But give it a shot anyway, it could be the wake up call that turns your business, and your life around.

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

No joke!

You’d think that Gene Simmons was just trying to be funny when he laid out this concept on time management.

These are some tough words that go against the fantasy told in the book, The 4-Hour Workweek. Frankly, that book did more damage to entrepreneurial drive and success than any business book I’ve ever seen. I have several friends who, despite my warnings, bought in hook, line and sinker, and pulled back on the reins to create their “4-Hour workweek.”

In so doing, they set the stage for their competitors to blow right past them and take ground from under their feet. By the time they realized what happened and how they’d been misled, they had 6-12 months of “catching up” to do JUST to get back to where they were before. Only now they were a year or more behind competitors that they were ahead of before that. It was a disgusting, painful thing for me to watch.

Now don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I don’t believe in the 4-Hour workweek. I do! It’s just that my definition is very different than Tim Ferris’s. My 4-hour workweek means my week, no matter how long, includes a MAX of 4-hours of tasks I don’t like doing.

I know that both because of 30-years of business ownership experience, and most recently, because I broke the code for optimally divding my time between Routine, Trouble-shooting and Project-based tasks. If my idea of a 4-hour workweek makes more sense and seems more quickly achievable, you want to check out these two videos on breaking your Time Code.

“Have to” vs. “Want to”

1-Percenters have things set up so they are regularly doing the things they WANT to, the 99-percenters HAVE to do what they do ALL THE TIME. That’s because 1-Percenters think very differently about time and about their business.

They know they have the CHOICE to create time if they want to. And in those cases where they may “have to”, like in the case of emergencies or other circumstances out of their control, they know exactly how to create those hours, and exactly how and where to reset to when the crisis is over. 99-percneters go into crisis mode…and live there, never know ing why they always “have to” do what they do in their business.

Putting yourself in the position of knowing what type of tasks you want and in what mix is what your Time Code is all about.

What’s your take?

I agree with Gene Simmons, that work is indeed Holy. What about you? Do you love what you do and consider it a blessing? If not, why not?

Do you see how, even though you may not take advantage of the entire 1,664 hours we talked about here, that this is a time mindset that you now have to put to work for you when you are starting a new business, expanding a new division of your existing business, and, something we all face now — growing your business in the New Economy?

Do you think it really is possible to bend time and get three, four and five hours of results out of one hour when you’d doing things right? Haven’t you experienced that on vacation or when you first fell head-over-heels in love with someone?

Share some psychological nudity in a comment below. ;-)

Entrepreneurial Alchemy: How 1-Percenters Get 2x More Performance, Profits & Fulfillment from 1/2 Fewer Hours

Time…it’s the one area that no one can deny we are all equal in. And it’s the one thing we all wish we had more of. Some people would tell you that you can become more “efficient” by getting better at “Time Management.” Well, you know what, to be perfectly straight with you — Time Management is B.S.!

In this 7-part video series I’m not only going to debunk the fallacy of Time Management, you’ll be learning how to actually CONTROL time and make it do your bidding.

Time Control: the universal multiplier

Before you watch the video below, let me ask you a serious question. How would your life be better if you knew EXACTLY what types of tasks to focus on to get 2X as much of the RIGHT things done in 1/2 the time with 10X the fulfillment to boot?

This isn’t hype, hope or any other dead end. It’s the least you can expect when you turn your thinking about time on it’s head.

In this first video of the 7-part series you’ll learn:

  • The ONLY four areas that 1-percenters focus on in their business
  • The three types of tasks we all deal with each day (and how we each have a different ratio of time we need to spend on each)
  • The CRITICAL gap between “efficiency” and “effectiveness” (and why efficiency could easily cripple or kill your business)

Watch the video and begin turn your ideas of time inside out…

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

So what do you think?

  • How much does time have to do with you having the type of business you want?
  • How does the way you’re currently using your time impact your profits? Could you be doing better?
  • What do you think about “efficiency” vs Effectiveness? What are some ways you’ve experienced the difference in your life?

Having complete control over your time, how you distribute the 24-hours you have in your day, your Time Code — that is the single factor that multiplies and magnifies (or divides and depletes) your performance, profits and fulfillment. What are you going to do today to start controlling your time differently?

1-Percenters understand that “time is money.” To 99-Percenters, the masses putting in a half-hearted effort, that’s just a trite little saying. But frankly, that’s one big reason why they’re in with the masses, not sitting at the top of their game with the elite 1-Percenters.

If you’d like to get the inside scoop on what 1-Percenters know, check out this video on time control using your personal Time Code. In the two videos we share how we were able to use time as a multiplier to go from generating $1,200/day to an average of $2,800/day!

How History & Logic Create Riches, and Emotion Creates Poverty

As entrepreneurs and business owners we all know emotion is the key to successful marketing. But when it comes to making financial and governing decisions in running your business — emotion will make you poor. Knowledge of history and logical analysis of your current situation compared to history is what creates riches.

A perfect example of how a lack of logic and ignorance of history will generate disastrous decisions is the current spending bill “The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009″ being paraded before the American public as a “stimulus” package.

Here’s a quick clip from today’s Wall Street Journal in case you’ve missed what’s going on:

clipped from online.wsj.com

$819 Billion Jolt to Economy Aims to Reshape Education, Health Care; Deficit to Soar

The House bill is one of the largest single stimulus packages in history, almost equal to the entire cost of annual federal spending under Congress’s discretion. A parallel Senate measure, which is expected to come to a vote next week, is now valued at nearly $900 billion.

Either bill, if enacted, would push the federal debt toward levels not seen since the second World War.

Also tucked inside is $335 million for programs that help prevent sexually transmitted diseases, and $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. The Senate version includes $70 million for a supercomputer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and $75 million for smoking-cessation programs.

“The strategy under this bill is to throw billions of dollars in every bureaucratic direction, and cross our fingers and hope for the best,” said Rep. Ken Calvert (R., Calif.) Wednesday during debate on the House floor.

[Chart]

Now only in government is a measure shown twice to be a failure in the last 6-months & politicians shout “Double down!” Bailout #1 passed months ago in Fall 08′ has been a failure. (And don’t forget the $700billion funneled into the economy during the Summer of 08″, but not labeled “bailout” by the media.)

All this bailout funding has done is cause otherwise healthy businesses (and investors in those businesses) to hold back and wait to see what (if any) help in the form of handouts they’ll get from the government. (For an example of this impact on the business market, see how JP Morgan says “stop talking about damn nationalization.”

The 1st bailout was doomed from a lack of historical perspective. And how can ANY logic have been used when the 2nd bailout bill was rammed through both houses and up to President Bush in less than 30-days? Ron Paul explained dangerous ignorance of history and lack of logic in the 1st bailout in 2min in this YouTube video:

History proves that economic cycles interrupted by gov’t intervention deepen & unleash stored energy on the public. For an example of the impact of interruption you need look no further than the last 8yrs. Alan Greenspan broke the 01′ recession by turning on money supply (printing money) & value of the dollar has dropped 50% in the last 8yrs. 50% devaluation of the US dollar to create a “soft landing”!

Now we have a 3rd bailout bill “The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009″ positioned to the hurting and unsuspecting public as a “stimulus” package. Yet the Congressional Budget Office (Democrat controlled) admits “approximately 12-cents of every $ in the 2009 Reinvestment Act will have stimulative effect.” As an entrepreneur and business owner, does that sound logical to you?

Use this current political and economic situation as a training ground to reinforce your Mogulogic.

1. Stand guard at the door of your mind. Watch your language (how you speak to yourself) and don’t let the media’s prognostications into your head.

2. Keep one eye on history and one eye on today, and both through the lens of logic. All around you, including other entrepreneurs and business owners, will be people controlled by emotion. Remember that you yourself use emotion in your marketing and sales to motivate people to action. Don’t let the media or the mob pull you into their emotional flow. Their path leads to poverty.

3. Take some action to try and stem the tide of destructive emotion sweeping the land. This Pork Bill masqueraded as stimulus passed house but still needs to pass the senate. There are many points of contention between the house and senate versions. And there is a lot of discord even among the Democrats themselves with the way the money is to be allocated (hurting more rural Democratic states take the back seat to blue cities.)

So you can still take steps 1 & 2 here in just 5-minutes to get your voice heard. And even though the House has already voted, I would still take 2-minutes on step 3 and let your representative know your disappointment with their vote for the bill. (No need 2 look up how your Representative voted. If they are a (D) they voted yes. All (R) voted no.)

Your success depends on your attitude and actions

Benjamin Franklin said “They that give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Never has that quote been more true.

The masses pay for control even when they can’t get it. They want security even when security eliminates the possibility of their own success. Leaders use history and logic to analyze the present and make decisions that create the successful future they desire.

Which will you be?

Together Entrepreneurs Can Impact Washington With 5-Minutes Each

Yesterday I was chatting with my friend Micheal Savoie (@MichealSavoie on Twitter) about Washington planning to spend another $850 billion in the “The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009″ (aka: the “Porkulus Package.”) One comment Michael had was “We can only do what we can do… until we become big enough to make a difference!

Well that made me realize that many entrepreneurs who want to make a difference, but don’t know what they can do.

When faced with a massive issue like we have now with the Stimulus package being pushed through Congress, they ask “what can I do?” It’s especially hard since as busy business owners we’re all trying to run and grow our companies, so time is limited.

Well here are three steps where you can make a difference in less than 5-minutes!

STEP 1:

Go to http://readthestimulus.org to see what is included in the Porkulus Package. You can even search the 1,600 pages of the document by keyword. (Some fun ones sure to make your toes curl with anger on how your money will be doled out are: grants, infrastructure, neighborhood stabilization & taxes.)

OK, well I could be off with the 5-minute estimate if you really start doing some digging here in step 1 to see what REALLY is buried in the Porkulus Package. But just looking at some of the charts on the home page should be enough to reinforce what you already know — that this “stimulus” package is a bad idea for us as entrepreneurs, and for the economy as a whole.

Step 2:

Go to the listing of US Senators. Use the web form provided for your Senator to contact them letting them know what you think of the Porkulus Package.

What do you say? Here’s a simple template to model:

Dear Senator _______,

I am writing to strongly urge you to vote against the The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. It is filled with pork and wasteful spending that will further damage an already weakened economy.

Instead I strongly urge you to vote FOR a reduction in taxes to individuals and families to truly make a relief impact on “main street.” History has proven that tax-cuts increase tax revenues so there is the positive impact of reducing the budget deficits with a tax cut vs. increasing the deficits by $850 billion-plus with the The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Sincerely,

__________________

STEP 3:

Go to the US House of Representatives to find your Congressional Representative. Call the phone number provided and ask to speak with your Representative. Most likely you will not get to speak directly with them, but use the following script as a guide in speaking with whatever member of their staff you have on the phone.

Representative __________, I’m calling to strongly urge you to vote against the The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. I’ve done my research and it is filled with wasteful spending that will further damage an already weakened economy. Instead I strongly urge you to vote FOR a reduction in taxes to individuals and families to truly make a relief impact on “main street.”

That’s it. I took those 3 steps this morning and steps 2 & 3 took me less than 5-minutes. As entrepreneurs and business owners we must make our voices heard.

We are all busy running and growing our businesses, but 5-minutes to at least know that you made your voice heard in Washington is a pittance compared to the hundreds of extra hours per year you are going to have to work to make up for the added burdens this Porkulus Package will place on us if passed.
